Characteristics of an AVID Student
GPA of 2.0-3.5
- No attendance or discipline problems
- Are willing to commit to enrollment in rigorous college preparatory sequence of courses
- Are willing to commit to staying in AVID for all four years of high school
- Has the desire to attend a four year college or university
- Usually a first-generation college student (parents did not go to college)
- Decided to join AVID independently, not because of parents
- Are willing to complete two hours of extracurricular activities and/or tutoring each week
